Katherine Smith has worked in factories all her life. She enjoys life on the shop floor. She has been married to Peter ever since conception of Sophie. Kath, or Kate, as her friends call her, wants her daughter to tread a safe path, not take chances, and meet a nice builder or other tradesperson. Kath had ideas like Sophie when she was younger, but her mother drummed them out of her.
